Folk Music evening with Rosie Anderson, Another Penny & Miggins Fiddle

August 21, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for an online evening of folk music with Rosie Anderson, Another Penny and Miggins Fiddle.

Rosie Anderson

Rosie Anderson is a singer/ songwriter who grew up in the Tyne Valley but now lives in South Shields. She has been involved in music for as long as she can remember, especially during her 32 year teaching career. She now runs singing sessions for the Alzheimer’s Society and for Cancer patients at St Oswald’s Hospice. In 2019 Rosie was joint winner of the Newcastle Folklub Songwriter of the Year with her song ‘Sally Smith’s Lament’ inspired by a family she came across whilst doing research for a film about the soldiers from County Durham who died in World War One. Rosie’s musical influences lean heavily towards musical theatre and jazz, with a healthy sprinkling of folk. She thanks her parents for that.

Another Penny

Another Penny is Maurice Condie & Adam Holden. They perform a unique combination of traditional and original songs in carefully crafted arrangements that showcase a dialogue of guitars, piano and other stringed exotica. Maurice plays Acoustic Guitar and occasional Mandolin, Cittern, Tres Cubano and 5 string Banjo. Adam plays Acoustic Guitar, Slide Guitar and Piano.

Miggins Fiddle

Miggins Fiddle folk duo are guitar player and folk singer Maurice Condie and fiddle player Marina Dodgson. They perform original arrangements of traditional tunes and songs from Northumberland and beyond. Formed in 2019, they have performed in folk clubs, events and community settings across the region. Maurice and Marina also play together to lead Phoenix Folk’s popular online tune sessions
