Chamber Folk - Concert Practice (2022)
We suggest playing along with the videos below as you practice for the concert on the 18th June. Where there are new things to think about (e.g. dynamics or articulation that have been added since the video was recorded) these are noted next to the video.
First half
NOBLE SQUIRE DACRE, PEACOCK’S TUNE
Fiddle harmony group – please join in with the first A part
Dymanics in the B part of Peacock’s:
First time around – we build over the first 4 bars of the B part, then drop back and build again over the next 2 bars, then continue to the end (no pause)
Second time around – we build over the first 4 bars of the B part, then continue to get even louder for the next 2 bars. On the very last B, there is a pause before the last 2 bars.
CUMBERNAULD HOUSE, FLOWERS OF EDINBURGH
On the second time around Cumbernauld House, remember to gradually play quieter during the first B part (so that we are already quiet when most of the ensemble drop out for the last B)
There is a pause on this video at the end of Cumbernauld House. We are no longer doing this pause.
51st HIGHLAND DIVISION
Remember we are slowing down at the end (unlike the ending on this video). We’ll go over this at the next rehearsal.
ALLOA HOUSE
second Half
HANCOCK WALTZ, WUPPERTAL WALTZ
NEIL GOW’S LAMENT FOR THE DEATH OF HIS SECOND WIFE
HALSWAY SCHOTTISCHE
Remember to punctuate the last 3 notes.
BAGPIPERS
Remember to punctuate the last 3 notes on this one too.
