Adam Holden, Rosie Anderson, Eric Sharp, Miggins Fiddle

A song and music circle, bringing together award-winning songwriters and folk composers to share songs and music rooted in the traditions of the North East, the UK and beyond.

Adam Holden

Adam Holden is a songwriter and over the last decade or so, he’s written approximately seventy songs in a range of styles and with different audiences or contexts in mind. These touch on immediate social, domestic and natural landscapes but are also rooted in a love of political ideas. He usually writes alone but has written music for words (by Cohen, James and Frost) and words for music (by Bley, Souter). His song “Nobody to hear it but the singer” was in the final of 2019 Folklub songwriter of the year competition. Adam’s solo EP of songs about political life, “Playtime for Everyone” is available here.

Rosie Anderson

Rosie Anderson is a singer-songwriter living in the North East of England. In 2020 Rosie’s song Sally Smith’s Lament was joint winner of the Newcastle Folklub Songwriter of the Year and in 2022, winner of both the Rothbury and Morpeth Gatherings. In 2021 Rosie performed an original song in the production of Food & Feuds presented by November Club at Hexham Abbey. For more details, visit https://rosieanderson.bandcamp.com/.

Eric Sharp

Eric’s songwriting builds on his mastery of traditional songs, but with modern topics. He has studied songwriting with Leon Rosselson, Karine Polwart, Dave Wilson, Boo Hewerdine, Darden Smith and Beth Nielsen Chapman among others.
