“This is definitely one of the best online communities I’ve experienced since sessions went online – long may it continue to thrive!”
We believe that online music making has unique merits and is here to stay. With the convenience of joining in from home, our online programme provides an opportunity for musicians of all levels of ability to play music and feel part of an international community of like minded people.
We take a relaxed and friendly approach, and our sessions are open access…anyone is welcome to just turn up and join in! Most of our online activities are free (contributions to our Tip Jar are much appreciated, but there is no obligation) and we’ll do our best to help you get connected and join in.
We’ve run over 700 live sessions since the 2020 lockdown, and have gained considerable experience in this format. We’ve worked hard to achieve the best in sound quality and to create a great play-along experience.
“I look forward to the music, the company, and the laughs, and you deliver – every time. Thank you!”
We’ve put together a tunebook of some of the best tunes that we know, including many well known session tunes alongside some Northumbrian repertoire. When you play along, you form a trio with our fiddle and guitar – join in with the tune or try some harmony! We run a steady speed session and a regular speed session every week. Click here for more details.
Share a song at our friendly Tuesday night online folk club. Tunes and poems are welcome too, and we’re happy to send you a recording of your performance to keep if you want one. There’s no pressure to perform, listeners are very welcome too! Click here for more details.
Our monthly Northumbrian session is an opportunity to learn and play some of the best Northumbrian tunes. We play in Northumbrian Pipes tuning but this session is suitable for all instruments. Click here for more details.
Our monthly video project provides you with an opportunity to be part of an international ensemble, playing new arrangements of traditional tunes, with parts for all abilities. Click here for more details.
For those who want to join in from home, but not in a live setting, we also offer a series of playalong videos.
